Ipswich, 19 May 2025 – Attwells Solicitors, with offices in Ipswich, Colchester and London, is delighted to announce the promotion of six valued team members, underscoring the firm’s commitment to nurturing talent and rewarding dedication. The newly appointed individuals include Jo Debenham – Chief Marketing and Communication Officer, Ruby White – Senior Paralegal, Charlotte Reason – Senior Associate, Harpreet Kaila – Senior Associate, Jack Allitt – Solicitor, and Shelagne Earnshaw – Senior Legal Assistant. These promotions recognise each person’s hard work and growth within the firm, reinforcing Attwells’ culture of internal development and community focus.

Jo Debenham has been promoted to Chief Marketing and Communication Officer. Jo, who joined Attwells nearly eight years ago, previously served as Head of Marketing and was appointed to the firm’s Board in 2022. She brings over 20 years of marketing experience to her new role. In her expanded position, Jo will oversee Attwells’ strategic marketing and communications, building on her success in developing in-house marketing, design and web initiatives for the firm. Her creative leadership is expected to strengthen the firm’s growth and community engagement.

Ruby White has been promoted to Senior Paralegal in the conveyancing team. Ruby joined Attwells in 2021 and has consistently supported the Suffolk conveyancing team, enabling property transactions to progress smoothly. Her earlier role included negotiating property sales outside the firm, and she quickly became a key part of the Attwells conveyancing department. In her new position as Senior Paralegal, Ruby will continue to apply her conveyancing expertise and administrative skills to help clients move home efficiently.

Charlotte Reason, based at Attwells’ Ipswich office, is now a Senior Associate. Charlotte joined Attwells in 2014 and has led the firm’s training and development efforts and serves as Head of Training and Development. In this capacity she delivers training and oversees apprenticeship programmes for new legal professionals across all offices. Her promotion to Senior Associate recognises both her legal expertise in conveyancing and her dedication to mentoring colleagues. Charlotte will continue to head the training function while taking on greater responsibility in firm matters.

Harpreet Kaila, based at the St John’s Wood (London) office, has also been promoted to Senior Associate. Harpreet joined Attwells in October 2014 and qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer within a year. As a Senior Associate and the Head of London Conveyancing, she now leads a team handling a broad range of residential property matters, from remortgages to high-value investments. Harpreet’s deep experience – from her law degree to scholarship at BPP Law School and her rapid qualification – underpins her new senior role guiding the London team.

Jack Allitt has qualified as a Solicitor and will serve in the Commercial team. Jack joined Attwells in 2022 after completing his legal studies and began in the residential conveyancing group at the Colchester office. He then undertook a training contract across residential, litigation, employment and commercial law, finally qualifying in 2025. Jack’s work has focused on property investor transactions, including buy-to-let purchases and company transfers. His qualification is celebrated as a milestone in his journey from graduate to fully qualified solicitor within the firm.

Shelagne Earnshaw has been promoted to Senior Legal Assistant in the Private Client department. Shelagne has dedicated over 17 years to assisting solicitors with wills, probate and estate matters. She has been a trusted adviser for clients facing inheritance and estate issues, and her promotion reflects a long career at Attwells supporting families and executors. In her new role, Shelagne will continue to apply her extensive private client experience to lead and support the department’s client work, drawing on her deep commitment to service and the firm.

“At Attwells we are especially proud of promoting talent from within,” said Nick Attwell, Managing Partner of Attwells Solicitors. “These promotions recognise not only the exceptional dedication and skill of Jo, Ruby, Charlotte, Harpreet, Jack and Shelagne, but also our firm’s commitment to helping everyone on our team grow their careers.
