The current position as published on the government website is that you can still move, however people outside of your household or support bubble should not help you move home unless it is absolutely necessary.
They go on to state that ‘Estate and letting agents and removals firms can continue to work. If you are looking to move, you can go to property viewings.’ This will be welcome news for those hoping to move before the stamp duty holiday ends on 31st March 2021.
For people moving home, it will be good to know that stamp duty holiday has reduced the stamp duty rate payable upon selling a property to 0%. Speculation is mounting that this scheme could be extended. However, there is currently no planned announcement.
