Christmas can be a lonely time especially for the elderly members of our community, but a local Ipswich businessman is spearheading a community spirited project to change this.

Jeremy Buitenhuis, who runs accountancy firm An Accounting Gem Ltd, was inspired to act after hearing of more and more people who were likely to spend Christmas on their own in Ipswich this year.

Jeremy along with other members of the Ipswich business community, including Shout About Suffolk, have kindly donated 40 free Christmas Day lunches, hosted at the Baker’s Arms, in Harkstead.

Determined to encourage more people to attend Jeremy approached Avenue Taxis and Attwells Solicitors for support. Both companies were moved by the thought of elderly members of their community being alone on Christmas Day and teamed up to help those less fortunate.

Avenue Taxis and Attwells Solicitors have agreed to share the cost of transportation, this means everyone who wishes to attend can. The free taxi service will also include vehicles designed for wheelchair users.

Nick Attwell, Managing Partner comments “Being able to help others is at the core of what Attwells Solicitors represents and is particularly important at this time of year. I commend Jeremy for this initiative.”

The festive fun will begin at 12pm, with free drinks served and an opportunity for people to meet and greet before tucking into their meals. Presents and other surprises have also been arranged. The event will conclude at 3pm.

Avenue Taxis are very happy to assist Jeremy and his team with this venture working alongside Attwells Solicitors helping others is our ethos and especially poignant  at this time of year when sometimes commercialism can take over.

If you would like to attend this free Christmas Day lunch please call An Accounting Gem on 01473 744700. A member of their friendly team will take your details and requirements.
